BANABANE, the odds-on favourite, produced the best performance of her career when completing an undefeated run through the performance with an exhibition performance in the final of the Coral Brighton Belle (515 metres) at Hove in November, 2016.

The winning time of 29.69sec (-10) was the third fastest in a Coral Brighton Belle final since the distance of the competition was altered in 1981 and, in fact, Banabane retained her form well enough to occupy third spot behind Away Shelly the following year.

A winner of 28 of her 71 career starts, kept her high-flying profile going in the most incredible way with her success in the breeding paddocks and she recently achieved a record-breaking milestone of 500 winners with her progeny.

Surprising, the most talented dog to be whelped by Banabane, won the 2020 English Puppy Derby (500m, Towcester).

Pocket Lola, the most talented bitch to emerge from one of the five litters, won the 2021 Produce Stakes (476m, Swindon) and was runner-up in the Coral Brighton Belle (515m, Hove) the same season.

A staggering total of no fewer than 48 of her 49 offspring were successful in either opens or graded races – the biggest contributors to the 500 winners of her descendants were Pocket Lola (25 wins), The Hill (25 wins), Get On Kylie (21 wins) and Awareness (20 wins).

2016 Brighton Belle heroine Banabane, the brood bitch of a lifetime, threw a staggering twelve individual winners from an April ’21 coupling with Good News and their meteoric rise through the grades at Hove was a highlight of the graded scene at Hove in the aftermath of Covid-19.

The members of one of the most illustrious litters in the history of Coral Brighton & Hove Stadium were Tolerance, Who Needs Wings, Whatever, Greatness, Lady Pepper, Agreement, Speechless, Wheres Poppy, Variation, Wheres Bella, Amber Sunrise and Moving On Up.
